Out from under my rock

My apologies for being so completely absent from this blog lately! I’ve got a pile of sessions to share with you and something NEW I think you’ll be excited about but first, I just wanted to post a quick note about where I’ve been this past week. I was fortunate enough to get to spend a few days with these four fabulous women:

From left to right, Audrey Woulard, Tamara Lackey, Laura Novak, and Lena Hyde.

They are talented photographers at the top of their industry, but more importantly, they are all smart, strong, savvy women whose energy is infectious. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. They overflowed my brain with knowledge and now I have a LOT of work to do! But I am not complaining in the least. One of their suggestions was to keep this blog updated more often– so let’s call this post the beginning of a new leaf. Ha!

Expect many changes over the next few months. I have so many new ideas to work out. Keep watching the blog– you’re going to love it!

Take my breath away

Every so often I open up a new gallery and I find a photo that just takes my breath away. As soon as I flipped past this one, I knew it would be stunning in black & white. Even with the beautiful Okinawa backdrop and a gorgeous blue sky day, this one was going to b&w. I hope you love it as much as I do! Enjoy the peek– I can’t wait to show you the rest!

It’s baby season

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of witnessing this little guy’s entrance into the world. Dad was in the middle of an untimely deployment and Mom had heard about my penchant for birth so she actually called to ask me about both getting pictures done and some help in achieving the natural birth she wanted. I agreed to come to her birth in a dual role as both a doula and photographer. As the date approached, I waited for her call, but she assured me she would go late. Well surprise! One evening, a few days BEFORE her due date she called me and said it just might be that night. When she called back a couple hours later, she was certain she was in labor, and when I arrived an hour after that, there was no questioning that we’d get to meet baby soon! The rest of the story isn’t mine to tell. But, I will share with you some of Baby J’s first moments. Next up… another birth!
