Little L came to A’s birthday party back in April and decided they needed to do a full session of their own. I’m so glad they did too. We had such a fun time out there. I always feel like the best sessions come when the family trusts me and says just do your thing– whatever that may be! And this one came out really nicely. I’ve also lucked out lately and had lots of parents wanting to try to get a picture of just the two of them. I love those sweet husband and wife moments. Usually we don’t get much time before they’re jolted back into parent mode, but even just one or two is so nice to have. Don’t you think?

When my daughter started yochien (Japanese preschool) last year, I joined a Japanese class with a few other moms who also wanted to be able to communicate a minimal amount with the teachers. It’s hard to not even be able to say that you’ll pick them up early today without a translator. Our teacher is fabulous and has done an amazing job of helping my language-impaired self to learn skoshi Nihongo. She makes it so accessible and practical that it’s not even work.

As it turns out, her daughter is going to be an exchange student to the States next year and she’ll be leaving in just a few short months. So we wanted to get some great family pictures for them both to hold onto next year. When I first got there they told me that they weren’t sure what they should do because they saw everyone on my web site hugging and kissing and loving on each other and “Japanese people don’t usually hug.” It cracked me up! That didn’t matter one bit since they did like to have a lot of fun! They were dancing around and having seaweed fights and generally having a grand time. Lots of energy and so fun to be a part of it. Thanks for the ride guys!
