Help wanted

elleriewild-1

You may know my lovely assistant Stephanie also runs own hair salon and it is certainly keeping her busy! No wonder since she’s such a fabulous stylist! But, as both of our businesses grow, we’ve hit some of those proverbial growing pains, and well, she just doesn’t have enough hands. So, I’m on the lookout for some more help. It’s just a few hours a week for now. Not a huge committment. I’d love to say it could turn into more down the road, but one step at a time. Anyway, here’s my wishlist:

1. Someone computer savvy with a good understanding of Photoshop, Lightroom, and CD burning.
2. Someone willing to drive to Yomitan twice a week.
3. Someone who is available for 2-3 hours on Tuesday or Wednesday.
4. Someone who is detail oriented.
5. Someone who is a self-starter.

Sound like you or someone you know? Drop me a note telling me why you’re perfect for me!

Okinawa Sunset

I love early morning light. The problem is that these days, sunrise is about 5:30 am and surprisingly, no one wants to come meet me that early! So, I’ve been doing quite a few sessions at sunset lately. It’s a completely different mood and I have to say, it’s starting to grow on me. Sunset over the China Sea– that is truly one of the benefits of living in Okinawa!

How will you remember Okinawa?

When it’s your turn to move on, what memories of Okinawa will you take with you? The beach? The seawall? Shisa dogs? Kanji signs? The ferris wheel you drive by every day? We captured it all. This was such a fun session. A asked me to give her “beach means urban”. And isn’t that really quintessential Okinawa?

Princess for a day

bday-1

My oldest daughter turned 4 today. Her birthday party was at Salon Feliz which was the best decision I’ve made in years! We had the whole salon for the morning so the girls could get pedicures and facials. When I talked to them about my idea, they were more than accommodating. But I was pleasantly surprised when we got there today and they brought out snacks, plates, cups, and drinks for everyone. I really wouldn’t have had to do a single thing. They even snapped a picture of them at the end, printed it on the spot, and then stuck a customized card in their goody bags! I hadn’t asked for any of it– those girls are so sweet that they just did it!

I brought in Stephanie to run the hair styling department. This was a very important role since no princess’ ensemble could be complete without a tiara! As always, she did a fabulous job and soon we had 5 beautiful princess makeovers complete!

M told us this morning that she wasn’t 4 yet. She was still 3 because she didn’t have a party yet. When she blew out her candles, THEN she would be 4. Well then, here’s a picture of her turning 4!

Here are some silly princesses getting ready to go! I’m going to have to go back through and dig out a photo with them all wearing their feather boas. ADORABLE.

After the salon, we headed out for lunch–after the birthday cake of course– so the girls were feeling just a TAD silly. Here they are being “scary princess statues”.
