Yin & Yang

This is the little girl who talked my ear off. I knew she was four because her chatter was remarkably similar to my daughter’s. But unlike mine, she was one of the easiest kids I’ve ever photographed. I showed up, click, click, done. She loved the camera and the camera loved her! Then there was her sister, who wanted nothing to do with me. This was more like taking pictures of my own girls! Her mom confessed that her one year photo session resulted in only one picture and that was after considerable bribery. But, D, I promised you more than one and don’t worry, you’re going to love these!

Three Generations

The J family is back, bigger and better than ever! Bigger, literally. Baby K is 8 days old and turned them into a family of 4. Plus, his doting grandparents are visiting this week so we had quite a crowd. But, they couldn’t have asked for a nicer day, better timing, or a happier baby. Everything really just came together beautifully. It was HARD to narrow this gallery down to just five images to post here– there are just too many favorites! But I have to leave something for you to look forward to!

Super sneak peek

I just loved this one so much I couldn’t wait to show it to you…. more to come.:)

So… Where do I begin? There was lots of rain, there was much rescheduling… fast forward to today. Lots of other factors that I just won’t bore you with led to a last minute cancelled morning. Last night I thought, “Hey, this will be fun! What will I do with a Saturday morning off?” Until this morning when I woke up to bright blue skies and a beautiful sunny day. I peeked out the window and unlike everyone else, my good mood vanished. I’ve been working around this weather mess for weeks and have a calendar in shambles and today I wake up to the best picture day in ages and I have no one scheduled. Some kind of cosmic weather joke. I just couldn’t let it go to waste, so I packed up my own two little supermodels and headed out. Keep in mind that this is never a good idea– trying to go out with the express purpose of taking pictures of my own kids. The big one suffers from an extreme case of Photographer’s Child Syndrome and the little one is well, just one and busy trying to hurdle herself off of cliffs and such. So without a second pair of hands to help corral the little one and without a bribe to try use on the big one, I was off. And it went miserably. I got nothing. Nada. Reformat memory card and try to just pretend the morning never happened.

Then we went to lunch, tried to get a pedicure, were turned down because it’s Saturday and we didn’t have an appointment. I decided to just call it a day and go home. At the salon though, the owner felt bad that she didn’t have a spot and had given the girls lollipops as a peace offering. Being the mean mother that I am, I said they couldn’t open them until I got a picture like I wanted. And like magic, this happened:

girls-211

girls-212

girls-2251

Funny, because after all of my efforts, those three were taken in my front yard on the way in the house in the span of 45 seconds. Why couldn’t we have just started with this?

I’m going to have to try to get some of the little one another day.
