I know you’ve heard this story before– family is about to leave the island, session is rained out, family holds back their clothes from the pack out and is living at the Westpac, the rain will not quit before their plane leaves. What do we do? I guess we shoot in the rain! Not bad for having to hide out under awnings and race out only between rain storms!

Anyhow, since we were cutting it so close, I had their wall art send directly to their new address. From what I’ve heard, it sounds like their move has not gone quite as smoothly as they had hoped, but they’re finally in their new house. And what’s the first thing they hung? She told me that they always hang their welcome sign first when they are making a new home. But they broke tradition this time and these had to go up first!

I always miss seeing the final results displayed together when I drop ship the canvases. Thanks for sending a snapshot of your wall!

I just wanted to share another finished wall with you.  I had a great time doing this family session but I am even more excited about the album session we’ve got scheduled this summer! I’m keeping it a secret until I have something to show you, but it is going to rock! Stay tuned.

I am loving this new project! I don’t know why it took me this long to start coming by for a snapshot of clients’ new and improved homes. But, I’m having a blast.

This one may just be one of my favorites. Lena Hyde gave me the idea of hanging touching canvases and I am thrilled with the way it turned out. It’s so unique.

I love that J was not scared of big canvases. She had this entire blank wall to fill and said let’s just go for it. We came up with this grouping and it is larger than life. Literally. Talk about impact. Breathtaking.

And last but not least, one of my favorite collections to shoot for. I think it’s the simplicity. You know me– I’m such a “less is more” kind of girl.

In the spirit of today’s earlier post, I think it’s important to imagine what your photos could look like finally hanging in your home. Most people focus on the photo shoot itself, but that is only the beginning. One of the benefits of personal photography is customizing the pictures to fit YOU. For example, what better way to personalize the new nursery but with the face of the new baby himself?

Another home transformed! It just doesn’t get better than personalized artwork to decorating your living space. This mom was telling me how she loves looking around her house now. “It’s like I froze my kids in time and have just surrounded myself with it. I get to enjoy this happy moment each time I walk by.” What a fabulous way to live!

I mentioned a while back that I was planning to show you what some of these canvases can look like once they’re all done and hanging on the walls. Somehow this little mini-project has been easier said than done! This one (should have been) a piece of cake though since they don’t require hanging. I thought I’d just quick drop them off and snap a photo of them in their new home, then come back here and post them for you. Easy as pie.

Famous last words.

So I wake up this morning to rain. Just means I have to re-evaluate my packaging to make sure I can get them there dry without ruining them. Not a big deal. I grab my camera and a couple lens choices from all over the house since all of my equipment is still, um scattered shall we say, between bags from my various vacation and day trips over the past few weeks. I successfully navigate my way to the point that the canvases are officially sitting where they belong, reach for the camera to snap a picture…. and OMG seriously, I didn’t bring a memory card? You have got to be kidding me! My first thought was how lucky this wasn’t a real session!

But not to be deterred, I used her camera to take these. That was no small feat either having to stumble my way around a Canon.

Without further ado, her Japanese tatami room now complete with gorgeous family photos!

Quick little post to let you know that I just got (most of) a canvas order in the mail! Let’s call it the “nearly here for Christmas” shipment. I’m still waiting for the big ones since those had to come separately via ShipItAPO, so hopefully we’ll be seeing those in the next few days. But for some of you, your order is here!

Remember back in January when we started our “Year in the Life” project? Of course maternity photos were a must and I am always honored to document a birth. Which…. I never blogged??? So sorry! I always said that one day I’d go back and get those backlogged sessions up… Well, just use your imagination for now! We rounded out the year with a new family session– this time with the WHOLE family. I really HAVE to narrow down a few pictures to show you. But it’s too hard! So, when you can’t decide which ONE picture to display, what do you do? Wall grouping!

Welcome to the family, baby!

But, we’d never forget the firstborn. I can not believe how big he’s gotten!
