A Blast From the Past

Ok so this is a session from a few weeks ago, but I have been meaning to share it for a while and just haven’t gotten around to it. It was a DIY session so we had a limited time-frame to work with and wouldn’t you know it, little P rolled out of the wrong side of the bed that morning! Uh oh!

Me: Hi P! Can I take your picture today?
P: No.
Me: Oh no! You’re not on the mood right now?
P: No.
Me: Ok, well then do you want to play in the sand with me?
P: No.
Me: I’m going to go splash in the water. Want to come?
P: No.
Me: Hmm. Do you want to sing a song?
P: No.
Me: Can I sing a song?
P: No.

….

Boy did he make me work for it! But I’m not complaining. He was actually adorable while shunning me repeatedly.:)I only mention it because I hear so many concerns from parents that their child may not be the most cooperative for picture day. So even though we might all hope for the stars to align and the bubbly toddler to be in a magical mood and miraculously follow directions, that’s not really how it usually works. And the good news is that my style doesn’t require it. Come as you are– we’ll make it work!

OMG! I honestly thought that we weren’t going to get any great shots of my crabby boy that day! But I have to applaud you for capturing him at his stinkiest and his most charming moments. You’re the best! I have to say, it’s really and truly amazing what you can do in literally a few moments!

And that conversation? Welcome to my world!

Hi Kim – What a great shot of P! He is adorable – and doesn’t look crabby at all. He looks charming, playful and fun. And, I love the way you describe the session. Good advice for moms and dads. Please email me!

Thanks!

Mary
